BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The Viera Hawks girl’s soccer team claimed the FHSAA Class 6A District 7 regional championship over Oviedo after defeating the Lions 2-1 on Wednesday.

The Hawks will have a chance to clinch a state championship berth as they will play in the state semifinals on February 28.

The No. 1 seed Viera Hawks have a 16-1-1 overall record on the season.

■ The Hawks cruised past Lakeland 5-0 in the regional quarterfinals

■ In the regional semifinals Viera defeated West Boca Raton 5-2

■ Most recently, the Hawks clinched a State Semifinals berth after defeating Oviedo 2-1
