Eastern Florida State Basketball Defeats St. Petersburg College to Capture Ninth Straight Win

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball team defeated St. Petersburg College for their ninth straight win Saturday afternoon on WEFS-TV.

The No. 14 ranked Titans picked up the 91-61 victory to improve to 21-3 overall and 9-1 in the Citrus Conference.

Owen Aquino got the Titans off to a strong start, scoring six of the team’s first 12 points as they took a 12-6 lead.

St. Petersburg College kept things close until Andrija Bukumirovic scored five straight points and seven in a row for the Titans, giving them a 23-13 lead with 10 minutes left.

Matija Zuzic hit some big 3-pointers and the Titans went to halftime leading 44-25.

Zuzic hit another 3-pointer in the first couple minutes of the second half and then Carlos Cortijo had a steal and basket and the lead reached 21 points, 49-28.

Zuzic hit two more 3-pointers with 11 minutes left and finished with seven in the game.

The seven 3-pointers is two short of the school record and ties him with Demetrius McReynolds who had seven in a game in 2015. Zuzic now has 52 3-pointers this season and finished with a team-high 23 points on Saturday.

Bukumirovic finished with 22 points and Owen Aquino had 13 in the win as 10 players scored in the game.

Eastern Florida State College will host Santa Fe College Tuesday night at Titan Field House in a conference matchup beginning at 7:30 p.m.
