BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – The Third Annual Lift Every Voice is scheduled for Sunday, February 18, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Rockledge Civic Hub, located at 1600 Huntington Lane in Rockledge.
According to Rockledge City Councilman Dr. Michael Cadore, “The event’s mission is to showcase academic and club projects for public, private, and home schools in Rockledge and surrounding cities.”
Dr. Cadore told me,” Our community should encourage our students to express their talents at every chance we get. There are many students who are not participating in school extra-curricular activities and positive clubs throughout the community. We want the Lift Every Voice event to be something that students look forward to.”
Cadore continued, “We cannot stop providing opportunities. It’s also about serving and educating. If you don’t serve your community now, don’t expect your community to serve you later.”
Co-organizer, Beverly Hamilton talked about how important this event is for young people. She said, “Students should have an opportunity to lift their wonderful class projects, dancing and music performances from the four walls of their schools with limited viewers and share them with the community for more greater visibility and encouragement.”
The title of the event, “Lift Every Voice,” comes from the Negro National Anthem written by Jacksonville historical leader, James Weldon Johnson.
Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Food trucks. local businesses, and vendors will be on site.
