Brevard County Fire Rescue Crews Extinguish Residential Blaze in South Merritt Island

Brevard County Fire Rescue station 43 crew extinguished a residential fire on South Merritt Island Sunday evening. Station 43 was first due and assistance was provided by crews from Stations 41, 42, 48, 62 and 80. According to officials, aid was received from Cocoa Fire, Rockledge Fire, Merritt Island Volunteers, Four Communities Volunteers, and BCSO. There were no injuries and the cause remains under investigation. […]

Her life was dedicated to activism and to nurturing her community, cementing her legacy as “The Mother of Cocoa.” She achieved a series of “firsts,” breaking barriers both for women and for Black residents of Brevard County and acting as a beacon of inspiration and encouragement for those who knew her. She remained active in her community in various ways throughout her long life, creating an impact that has resonated in Cocoa and Brevard County for decades. […]
