Second Prestigious Forbes Ranking This Year as Brevard County-based Health System Was in February Named Among the Nation’s Top Large Employers.

BREVARD COUNTY •ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – Health First has been named to the prestigious Forbes list of America’s Best-in-State Employers for 2023 in Florida.

This award is presented by Forbes and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider. The state-by-state list can be viewed on Forbes’ website.

Health First ranks 63rd among all Florida employers and is the only Brevard County-based employer on the list. Additionally, Health First is one of only 16 hospitals or healthcare systems recognized.

“This is a wonderful recognition for Health First and the more than 9,500 associates and volunteers who bring a high level of dedication and commitment to work each and every day with a single focus and mission – making Brevard County a strong, healthy and vibrant community,” said Health First Chief Experience Officer Paula Just.

“As we find ourselves capturing the attention of more national ‘best’ rankings – whether it’s for workplace and cultural quality, or for safety and patient experience – it’s clear that something truly special is happening here in our small slice of paradise on Florida’s Space Coast. Our Health First associates love what they do, why they do it, and who they do it for – which is you, our friends and neighbors in the community. And quite frankly, that’s the recipe for success!”

America’s Best-in-State Employers 2023 were identified based on 2.1 million employer recommendations from employees working for companies with more than 500 employees in the United States. The recommended employers were grouped into one of the 25 industry sectors.

Employers with operations in more than one state were ranked in multiple states.

The evaluation was made on a state-by-state basis and is based on three distinct criteria: In-state indirect recommendations, National in-industry indirect recommendations, and Direct recommendations.

Further, employees were asked to give their opinions on a series of statements surrounding work-related topics, including working conditions, diversity, salary, potential for development, and company image regarding their current employer.

“It’s an incredible honor to be named among the top companies and healthcare systems in our own state of Florida – but especially among the best of the best in the United States,” Kent Smith, Health First Board Chair, said back in February.

TWICE AS NICE: SECOND FORBES RANKING IN 2023

For the second straight year, Health First was named among America’s Best Large Employers for 2023 by Forbes.

In a survey of 45,000 U.S. employees, Health First landed in the top 200 nationally on the list highlighting organizations with more than 5,000 employees.

Jumping nearly 250 spots – from 407 in 2022 to 159 this year – Health First was one of only three hospitals or healthcare systems in Florida named to the list and one of only 35 hospital or healthcare systems nationally named to the list. Additionally, Health First was one of only 18 Florida-based companies named to the list.

“It’s an incredible honor to be named among the top companies and healthcare systems in our own state of Florida – but especially among the best of the best in the United States,” Kent Smith, Health First Board Chair, said back in February.

“There is simply no better validation for the quality and success of an organization than from the feedback of its employees and customers. Health First has a tremendously proud, engaged and dedicated team – and our customers can rest assured that the care they receive is reflective of that positive environment. I’m so proud of every physician, associate, volunteer or community stakeholder that have made this honor possible.”

The evaluation was based on direct and indirect recommendations from employees who were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family. Employee evaluations also included other employers in their respective industries that stood out either positively or negatively.
